Skanska was awarded a $115 million contract by The Reading Hospital and Medical Center to manage the construction of several new campus building components, including a 340,000-SF, seven-story clinical care center (N Building) that was connected to existing buildings. N Building houses emergency care units, cancer services, cardiology services, patient care units, and MICU and SICU units.
In addition to N Building, the project scope extended to:
• Construction of a four-level, 400-car precast concrete parking garage addition
• Construction of two-story corridor link from garage to N Building
• Construction of emergency walk-in and ambulance entry drives
• Construction of a landscaped courtyard healing garden
• Modification of doctors’ parking lot
• Renovation and expansion of central utility plant
The work was phased to minimize disruption to adjoining spaces in C and R Buildings. The renovation and expansion of the central utility plant was also done in phases to maintain uninterrupted operation and service of essential utilities.
